Our pastor, Dr. John, has challenged everyone at Delano Baptist to read through the Bible this year. A reading plan is listed on the church calendar each month, but other reading plans are available on the internet or at your local public library. AWANA: On Sunday, May 20 at 6:00 PM Awana will have charge of our evening service. A hot dog supper follows the program. All Awana teachers and childen should be at the church by 5:45 PM. Awana will NOT begin at 5:00 PM. Awana will then be 'on vacation' until school starts in the fall.
Honoring Veterans: If there are changes or additions to our veterans list please forward the info to Lynn Dotson or Karen Newman. With your help we can have a more complete listing of all our veterans!
Homecoming: Everyone is invited to our annual Homecoming Celebration on Sunday, May 27. Worship begins at 10:45 AM with a wonderful covered dish meal to follow in Joey Hall. Be sure to join us! There will be no Sunday School or evening service.
CiA: Wednesday, May 30 is the last day for CiA until school begins in the fall. Agents books and badges will be on display in the Sanctuary foyer beginning June 3 for everyone to see.
VBS: Be praying for our Vacation Bible School, to be held JUNE 3-8. Pray for everyone who will be working and for the children and adults who will be attending. Cover our VBS in prayer!!!!! This year's theme is "Amazing Wonders"!
PCBA Food Bank: PCBA Food of the Month for May: CANNED FRUIT. Distribution day is the third Tuesday of each month from 8 to 11 AM. Volunteers are needed!! There is a great opportunity to witness to individuals during Distribution Day. If you would like to volunteer please see James Brown, or Karen Newman, Food Bank Director, or call (423) 263-9323. Thanks!
Intercessory Prayer: Our IPM (Intercessory Prayer Ministry) wants your prayer requests! List your prayer concerns on the sheets in your Sunday School class and leave the sheets in the plexiglass holders outside the door for Karen Newman to pick up; contact Karen Newman directly for the printed prayer list; or give them to Lynn Dotson, church webmaster, who lists prayer needs on the church website.
Movie Extras: Filming for "Boo", the Stewart's movie, is scheduled for May 19.
Congratulations: To our own Helen Churchwell, who has a short story in May's edition of Mature Living magazine. Copies are available on the tables in the foyer.
Can Donation: Help the Stewarts fund their next movie by bringing soda or soup cans (clean please!) for them to recycle. Place cans in the box in the hallway between the kitchen and bathrooms in Joey Hall. Thanks!
